As we drove through Michigan in the summer of 2003 to visit my family, we ran into a wonderful rain storm. As the storm moved off, the sun broke through and we got a wonderful display of rainbows large and small. This piece was inspired by a particularly small rainbow in the clouds - just a slice of a rainbow, something I have heard called a "sundog." And thus was born, The Michigan Sundog.
